Whole-Person Healing Through Body Awareness, Health Coaching, and Pain Reprocessing
For nearly a decade, I have had the privilege of supporting clients through massage therapy, witnessing firsthand how stress, tension, trauma, and life experiences are often reflected in the body. My background as a massage therapist, combined with a bachelor’s degree in biology, has shaped my understanding that healing extends beyond muscles and joints—it involves the nervous system, the mind, and our relationship with ourselves. Today, I offer an integrated approach to support people experiencing persistent pain, stress, burnout, chronic health challenges, and major life transitions.
My work is grounded in the understanding that the body and mind are deeply interconnected. Emotional stress, chronic nervous system activation, and long-standing patterns of protection can influence how we experience pain, tension, and overall well-being. By developing greater awareness of these patterns, clients often discover new possibilities for healing, resilience, and lasting change.
Professional Note: Health & Wellness Coaching and Pain Reprocessing Coaching are educational and supportive services designed to enhance well-being. They are not a substitute for medical care, physical therapy, or mental health treatment. I do not diagnose or treat medical or mental health conditions, and I work collaboratively with healthcare providers whenever appropriate.
Services
Therapeutic Massage
- My approach to massage therapy is rooted in both science and presence. With a Bachelor's degree in Biology and years of hands-on experience as a licensed massage therapist, I blend a deep understanding of the body's structure with a grounded, compassionate approach to healing. Whether your session calls for prenatal care, deep tissue work, therapeutic relaxation, or a thoughtful combination of techniques, each massage is tailored to meet your body's unique needs. I believe the body often carries the effects of stress, pain, and life's experiences, and that intentional touch can create space for release, restoration, and personal growth—helping you reconnect with your body's natural capacity for balance, resilience, and well-being.

Neuroplastic Pain Reprocessing
- During a neuroplastic pain reprocessing session, we'll explore how your brain and nervous system may be contributing to ongoing pain or other persistent symptoms. This isn't about suggesting your pain is "all in your head." Rather, it's about understanding how the brain can sometimes continue producing pain even after the body has healed. Sessions include education about the science of neuroplastic pain, gentle awareness practices, guided exercises to help calm the nervous system, and identifying thoughts, emotions, and patterns that may be reinforcing pain. Together, we'll build new, safer associations that teach your brain your body is no longer in danger. The process is collaborative, compassionate, and paced according to your comfort. The goal is to reduce fear, increase confidence in your body's resilience, and help create lasting changes that can decrease pain and improve quality of life.

About Me
Hi, I’m Elise Hartenian, owner of Indigo Massage and Coaching. I’m passionate about helping people reconnect with their bodies and find lasting relief from pain, stress, and tension. My goal is to create a supportive, compassionate space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered in your healing journey.
With a background in biology and years of experience as a licensed massage therapist, I combine science-informed knowledge with a holistic approach to care. I offer clinical and treatment massage including prenatal and postnatal care, relaxation massage, cupping, and Gua Sha. I’ve also been trained as a Pain Reprocessing Coach (PRT™), an evidence-based approach that helps retrain the brain’s response to chronic pain. By addressing both the body and the nervous system, I help clients better understand the connection between stress, emotions, daily habits, and physical symptoms, creating opportunities for meaningful, lasting change.
Whether you’re navigating chronic pain, recovering from an injury, experiencing the physical demands of pregnancy or parenthood, or simply looking to reduce stress and improve your well-being, I tailor each session to your unique needs. Through massage therapy and coaching, my goal is to help you move more freely, feel more at home in your body, and build the confidence and tools to support your long-term health and wellness.
